Darrell Dedo

Obituary of Darrell John Dedo

It is with heavy hearts we are announcing the passing of Darrell J. Dedo of Edmonds, Washington. The beloved husband, father, and grandfather died on Saturday March 16, 2024, at Swedish Hospital in Edmonds.

Darrell was born in Cle Elum, Washington on March 15, 1935, to John and Ruth Dedo. His family later moved to Seattle, Washington. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952 where he was a runner and pole vaulter on the Lynx track team.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Washington in 1956. While attending UW, he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.

Darrell met the love of his life, Eunice Mae Morris, during high school and they married in April of 1956.

Darrell and Eunice welcomed their daughter Debbie in 1957 and their son Darren in 1971. Both went on to graduate from their father’s alma mater, the University of Washington.

He started his career with Safeco Insurance in Seattle and Tacoma. His enterprising spirit led him to transition to real estate. He started his own real estate company and built, owned, and rented residential properties in Seattle.

Darrell and his family enjoyed time together, skiing, boating, traveling, and attending sporting events such as UW Husky football games. He earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying with Eunice around the Pacific Northwest.

One of his memorable moments was a chance encounter for Darrell and 5-year-old Darren, meeting one of his idols John Wayne, while “The Duke” was gassing up his yacht at Shilshole Marina in Seattle.

Darrell leaves behind his wife Eunice, daughter Deborah Walmer, son-in-law Mark Walmer, his son Darren Dedo, and grandchildren Kelsey Walmer, Matt Walmer, Max Dedo, Gracielle Dedo, Caroline Dedo, and Lauren Dedo.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in honor of Darrell to the American Heart Association.
