Obituary of Robert Stanley Anderson

It is with deep sadness that we announce Robert Stanley Anderson lost his courageous battle with lung cancer. Born October 12, 1933 and passed December 6, 2022 which would have been his 64th Wedding Anniversary. Dad was the ultimate romantic and went to be with his beloved wife JoAnne that preceded him in death (2020).

They shared a blended family of five children: Stanley, Cynthia, Christina (dec.), Catrina and Carin, with many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Dad was legendary in the Foundry industry. He spent over 60 years sharing his expertise and was a life-long member of the American Foundry Society.

Dad knew a lot about a lot of things. He could fix almost anything. Duct tape and bailing twine were definitely always on hand. He might have been the original “McGyver”. Dad shared hundreds of stories of his time growing up in Long Beach, CA and Phoenix, AZ. His parents, Stanley and Tesse (both dec.) did an amazing job with their four sons Robert (dec.), Ron (dec.), Les (dec) and Doug. So many stories of dynamite, camping, hunting and general mischief. It is understandable why Grandma had white hair!

Dad loved baseball, football, boating, crabbing, shrimping, clamming and even going for Geoduck. His “happy place” was checking crab pots, watching the hummingbirds, boats, water birds and sunsets all while listening to a Mariners Game. He loved great food and could probably eat his own weight in steak or prime rib. He would never pass up Lemon- Lemon Meringue Pie or Flourless chocolate cake. His absolute favorite holiday was the Fourth of July. There would be so much food, fun, fireworks and even his beloved brass cannon.

A very Special Thank You to Dr. Michelle Zhang for giving us over three “miracle years” after his diagnosis. Thank you to Larry Schick and Bob Johnson for their continued camaraderie and friendship. Quail Park of Lynnwood allowed Dad to live his best independent life right up until the end. Dad thoroughly enjoyed the dining rooms and even went to the movie theatre. He found joy entertaining other residents with his Quail Call. He was also very grateful for his “Greek family” which embraced him. He was so appreciative for Sikey (taking him to chemo weekly; being the “fixer” and so many restaurant stories) Mama Voula (for her vibrance and food pushing) and Cousin Voula (for needing to understand American Football) Dad will be be missed every single day and he will be honored every day. It brings comfort knowing that he is with mom.
