He graduated Lincoln High school in Seattle 1946. Herb served in the Marines from 1946 to 1948. After leaving the Marines he went to work for his Aunt Ethel and Walter Daly and in a short time became co/owner and operator of Daly’s Home Decorating Center and Daly’s Wood Finishing Products for over 70 years.

In (1950) he married Dolores Mae Juergens “Dollie”, They were married 60 years and together they raised their 3 children in Shoreline. Besides spending time with his family, Herb and Dollie enjoyed many driving trips throughout the United States. On many occasions those trips included golf along the way, sometimes sharing their adventures with their closest friends and family.

In his later years Herb enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Lake Roesiger. There he spent his days working in his yard planting new scrubs, tending to his blueberries and huckleberries.
