Obituary of Anne "Tess" Reddy Rodin

Mom was born at the family home in Seattle on October 22, 1931 to Anne and John Reddy, Sr.  She was their sixth child of nine.  She grew up in the Greenwood neighborhood attending St John’s and St Anthony’s Catholic Schools and graduating from Holy Angels Academy in 1949.

Mom was extremely proud of being 100% Irish and her Irish heritage.  She married our Dad, Harry Rodin Sr., on October 27, 1956.  Together they had three amazing children Anne McAlvey, Harry (Teresa) Rodin, and Bean Rodin; eight adored grandchildren:  Therese (William) Richardson, Chris (Laryssa) McAlvey, John McAlvey, Harry Rodin III, Rex Rodin, Kate Bradley, Brock Bradley, and Christine McAlvey; and two perfect great grandchildren Alan and Isla McAlvey.

Mom treasured spending time with this phenomenal family of hers!  Mom especially loved Christmas and Christmas lights and always wanted these up as early as possible.  She was the ultimate hostess when her and Dad would have parties with family and friends in their home and at their Whidbey Island cabin.  They had fun attending dances, traveling “camping” in their trailer all over the PNW, many trips to Canada to be with family; two trips to Europe, especially Ireland; and eventually enjoying their retirement together.

Once mom was on her own, she always relished getting together for lunch and dinner with new and old friends.  She looked forward to phone calls and connecting with people at any opportunity.  She enjoyed many years attending Mass at Lady of the Lake with her niece Colleen Reddy and especially going out for dinner afterwards.  She welcomed anyone who stopped by for a visit and of course would offer them tea … Red Rose Tea.

Mom is survived by her children - Anne McAlvey, Harry (Teresa) Rodin and Bean Rodin; grandchildren - Therese (William) Richardson, Chris (Laryssa) McAlvey, John McAlvey, Harry Rodin III, Rex Rodin, Kate Bradley and Brock Bradley and Christine McAlvey; great grandchildren Alan & Isla McAlvey; and sisters Eileen Thompson and Peggy Huckins, and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

Mom was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Harry Rodin Sr.; son-in-law Tim McAlvey; parents Anne and John Reddy Sr.; brothers Brian and Mike Reddy; sisters Katie Atkinson, Pat Reddy, Dorothy Galliano, and Mary Kelly; and nephews Pat Reddy, Mike Reddy, Mark Atkinson, John Kelly, Bob Atkinson and Brian Kelly.
