Obituary of Royal Craig Dickgieser

Royal “Big Craig” Dickgieser passed away on March 26, 2022 at his home in Lake Stevens. Craig was born on October 14, 1947 in Sedro Woolley to Robert and Maxine (Kenney) Dickgieser. His family moved to Port Angeles, WA where he grew up and graduated from Port Angeles High School. Craig served in the US Navy from 1965 to 1978. His awards include two Combat Action Ribbons, a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, a Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, and multiple Good Conduct Medals. He later worked as a Tugboat Deckhand for 25 years and retired from Crowley Maritime. Craig was well known for his cars, he’s likely detailing one right now. We will miss his contagious laugh, his loud music and funny phrases. Craig was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Jody Dickgieser, and his brothers Bryce Dickgieser and Jack Colman. He is survived by his son Craig Dickgieser and grandson Jacob Dickgieser, daughter Nicole Dickgieser and partner Ryan Peterson, nephew Geoff Dickgieser (Marsha) and nieces Erinn McKenzie and Ashley Price. He will be greatly missed by his sister and brother in-laws. The memorial service will be held on Thursday May 19, 2022, at 11:00am at Holyrood Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Edmonds Yacht Club.
