Obituary of Kenneth Edwin Paige

Kenneth Edwin Paige, 84, of Edmonds Washington, passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2022, after a brief illness. Ken was born on 9/5/1937 to Gerald Edwin Paige and Alma Hemingway Paige in California. The second eldest of 11 siblings, Ken was raised on the family farm in Presho, South Dakota until his graduation from Presho High School in 1955. After graduation, Ken proudly joined the US Navy where he was first exposed to the craft of welding including deep sea welding - fascinating given he arrived at training not knowing how to swim! After honorable discharge, Ken began a 30-year career in sheet metal fabrication. In 1962, Ken met MaryAnn Adams in Seattle, Washington during the Seattle World’s Fair. Ken and MaryAnn went on to have three children, Kim Petram (Jordan), Kristin Munson (Jeff), and Brian Paige. Upon retirement, Ken capitalized on his true passion and built a salmon fishing guide business out of Edmonds, Washington. Ken spent many years fishing Puget Sound on his boat the Farm Buoy, off of his favorite spot, Possession Point, helping hundreds of clients thrill in the sport of catching their own fish. In addition to his joy of gardening, Ken was active with Trout Unlimited, volunteering countless hours supporting the health of fisheries in Puget Sound. Ken was predeceased by his parents, brothers Jerry, Larry, and Melvin (Margene) Paige, and sister Myrtle Juntunen. He is survived by his wife and children, and beloved grandchildren Anna Marie Munson, William Munson, Edward Munson, Nathaniel Petram, and Rohin Petram; great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Emily Iupeli; and siblings Vernon (Suzan) Paige, Tom (Sheryl) Paige, Betty Raymond, Gloria Paige, Sharon Paige, and Patti (Gary) Goudy. Services will be held at Suquamish, Washington this Spring. As a proud survivor of breast cancer, the family requests any donations be made to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center or the University of Washington’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.
